We got a grand am with a blown motor. Put a used motor in it and they said it was running before they took it out of the car. When we put the motor in we put a new a/c compressor in it. We put a refurbished alternator in it and the car went dead. We took it to oreillys and the alternator tested bad so they replaced it. The alternator was put in and it still would not charge the battery and it died. It also tested bad. So my fiancee bought a brand new alternator and it still wont charge the battery. Could the car be popping the alternator and if not what can we do to try to get it to charge?

If the motor you put in was a different year--make and model, the alternator may be different, so the charging system may be wire differently. Can't tell from here? Any charging system trouble codes? Make sure the battery has a full charge, if it doesn't, take the battery off and have it charged. Make sure the connections are good. With everything turned off, use a digital multimeter across the battery posts, take a reading. Then, take a reading at the alternator bat terminal, should be close to same reading. If no reading at the alt bat terminal, check circuit from alternator to battery, possible blown fusible link, broken wiring circuit.
