1999 Pontiac Grand Am V8 Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 96000 miles

Difficulty starting. Frequently, the red security light comes on when attempting to start. When it is on, engine will turn over but will not start. Took to dealer. Reported history code for no communication or no voltage. Cleared history codes and security light went out. Engine started.
This seemed to help for a short time but is now doing the same as before taken to dealer.

I attempted to make a donation, but the site would not allow me to enter card type and, hence, would not complet donation process.

No comm or voltage to what? If it is the key not communicating, that can be either the reader in the column or the key, or both. Do you have your receipt with the exact codes? You can reset by turning key to "on" position, quickly bump the key to start, but dont crank it long enough to start it. Leave key in on position for about 10 minutes, red light should go out and it is relearned for the key. Codes have to be read and cleared using a scan tool. Once running I would have it scanned again, could quit for good
