Squealing Noises goes away when the brakes are applied

Brakes problem
1997 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 200000 miles

Hey, hope you can help. Lately while I drive (accelerate, coasting, or turning) I hear a high pitch fluttering squeaking sound. But it goes away when the brakes are applied at any pressure. Ive heard it could possibly be a belt, or calipers? Would love some input before I take it in for repairs.

Sounds like bad break pads, also check the rear pads or shoes. If this dont work, reply back.

I agree with NDDUNC, it sounds like the brake pads are worn out I would check the front pads first. Here is a guide to help explain better.
