My shifter is stuck in park and won't move. My brake light indicator was on but I added fluid and it went off but the shifter still won't work. Do you think the problem is the brake lock solenoid, and how does it work? If it isn't that what else could it be, and what can I do short term to get the car out of park so I can move it.
Thanks
Chuck

WARNING. THE TRANSMISSION CAN BE TAKEN OUT OF PART WITHOUT THE BRAKE BEING DEPRESSED.
DO NOT LEAVE A CHILD OR ANIMAL IN THE CAR.

now that that is out of the way...
a short term fix is to get inside the console and disengage the lock on the gear selector.
