Engine Mechanical problem
1997 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive 1002 miles

hello recently we did a crank kit in our 97 grand am now our car will not start cranks over but no spark or injector pulse, have check (and replaced, both crank sensors, cam sensor ignition modual. Have power to all components have checked all fuses. We did change out the reluctor wheal due to the origianal being damaged but it came from another running engine. After re-setting the pas lock system we got spark back but only momentaraly. Any ideas?

It sounds like the security system have the engine shut down. What you can try is to turn the key to the run position. Let it there for about 10 minutes and the security light should shut off and the engine should start.

As far as repairing the system, you need to take it to a dealer. They are the only ones that have the proper test equipment the diagnose this type of problem.

We have been unable to get the security system to re-set either by leaving the key on or by cycling the key per manual. I was led to belive that the theft system only shut down fuel, are you saying it controls spark as well?
