2001 Pontiac Firebird 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i have a 2001 pontiac firebird 3.8 v6. Ran fine every since i've owned it. Bad o2 code showing(again since i've owned it). The problem started after the belt broke. I replaced it, then I turned it around and parked it. About an hour later I went to start and it's running real ruff and dies after about thirty seconds(faster if I give it gas), when it dies it pops thru the intake(like it it out of time). Every once in awhile it will run fine for about 20 minutes and when I shut it off and restart it it won't run again. When the belt it hit the coolent tempature sensor, I was told that if it was bad that it would make the car run like that. I replaced it and the car ran fine for 20 minutes, even restarted fine. Went back to drive it and it isn't running again. Any ideas? Please help.

I'm having trouble understanding what you're saying. If you could describe the following statement a little better, I may be able to help you. I specifically need to know if you're saying you replaced the sensor, or the belt.

"when the belt it hit the coolent tempature sensor, I was told that if it was bad that it would make the car run like that. I replaced it and the car ran fine for 20 minutes, even restarted fine."

Also, the coolant temp sensor will make your car run rich, but not die. This sounds like a fuel related problem.

Get back with me and I'll help you from there.
