What tempature should a 1999 pontiac fire bird coupe run at? It has the 3800 series engine. My girl friend has a 1997 camaro with same engine. All parts are identical. Her car runs at 180 degrees. My car runs at 220 degrees. My fans work. Is 220 normal for my car.

Actually, the exact range of your motor's operating temp is 180-220. So yours is at the high end, your gf's is at the low end.

If yours does raise any higher for an extended period of time, I'd worry. If it just hovers around that temp, even while driving hard, don't worry at all.
