The description says that its been sitting around for 10 months and when he tried to start it up after 10 months it wouldnt start, the car is $700 dollars, im cant really afford to fix it if the repair might be over $300 dollars, any idea what might be the problem? like for instance, could it be something as cheap as an oil change or a few spark plugs? the owner said he changed the battery about 2 months ago. and changes the oil every 3k miles with castrol gtx high mileage. it looks in good condition. and he said he had the breaks worked on a month before he stopped driving it, he seems to think it would just be an oil change, but i just want to be sure. would it be worth it? buying the car for $700 and getting it repaired to drive again? or should i just keep looking?

Try below to determine if its fuel or spark issue then comeback

Get a starting fluid or ether and spray into the carb or the throttle body on an EFI. Did it start and die? If not disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors- Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it

Ok well. Firebirds are awesome cars. I just recently bought a 91 myself black looks just like night rider. Well these beast are tempormental. Cold natured and when they mess up they mess up. First off. Change spark plugs. Turn key on see if fuel pump kicks on if not fix it. Get new fuel filter and check or exhaust leak. Best bet for real take it have it scanned at a auto place and see what all is wrong with it.
