The car has sat for about a mont and I had to scrape a foot of snow off of it. It was sitting because it needed a new alternator and battery. Those items were replaced yesterday. The car has an alarm that came with if from the dealer. It has a jack on the panel below the steering column for a key that looks like a 1/4" headphone jack. Typically this light is green, and all works fine. Now it is red, and not responding to the usual reset procedure. I am having difficulty finding anything out about it. Please help, I need my car to run.

Mike,

This is a tought one. Do you have any idea what brand it is? If you can find that out, I may be able to do some research for you, but without that, there is no way to know what we are dealing with. Did the dealer install it?

Let me know.

Yes! The dealer did install it. I will try to pull the dash apart enough to see what brand it is. I know it was installed by Gewecke Chevrolet/Pontiac located in Manteca, CA in 1996 when the car was new. Don't know if that will help or not.

Mike:

Is the dealer still in business? Do you think they may have a schematic of the product?

Let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.

I git the alarm out, the car started up fine.

I got in it to back it out of the driveway, and as soon as I closed the door, I lost all electical to the car. I checked all the fuses that I can see, and they are all in tact. I made sure the connections that I had just done (from removing the alarm) were still in place, and nothing. While no kee was in the ingnition I heard a faint chime sound. The same chime sound as when you start the car or leave the keys in the ignition). Is is somthing with the ignition switch, or am I missing a fuse somewhere?
