If you run car out of gas does the fuel system have to be primed to get the car to start and if so how do you prime it?

Diesel cars need to be primed. Gas cars don't. If it's a gas car you will need to pump the gas pedal to get the fuel to come through. If it's deisel there should be a primer hand pump under the hood.
