The first time I noticed it was the first time I had it highway speeds after having a ton of work done on the car. Timing belt, water pump, fuel pump have all been replaced in the last month. As we're tooling down the road the temp gauge starts going back and forth between cold and normal. It appears to be related somehow to RPM's. At idle it sits at normal. When I accelerate it starts flopping around. The heater works fine. Electrical maybe?

Have your engine coolant temperature sensor ohm tested for faultiness. This would explain the fluctuation with the rpms because as rpms go up, the coolant rushes past the sensor back and forth. Let me know your findings

Not only was the reply blazing fast. The fix was super easy. My connection was bad the "plug" that went to the top of the sensor was loose. A quick squeeze and good as new. No more crazy gauge. Thanks a ton!
