Is there any kind of vibration, particularly when accelerating up to 35 mph? A worn inner cv joint housing will cause a shimmy in the steering wheel while under load, and that is often accompanied by a broken spring inside the joint. The spring keeps the housing in the transmission. When the spring breaks and the housing comes out, the seal no longer rides on the sealing surface. I would expect it to leak all the time and the splines to come out far enough that the van won't move, but stranger things have happened. That spring is available from the dealer for about four bucks.

There is also a vent behind the torque converter. Fluid will come out if it becomes aerated and foams up. Rotating parts will cause that if the fluid is over-filled.
