Van starts, dies several times then is completely dead for about 3 hours.

When I bought my van in May the alarm system went haywire going off all the time for no reason. The car lot's mechanic put a new switch in the door but it still went crazy so he took out the memory fuse and the van worked fine for a month or so. Now it has started doing the same thing it was doing when the memory fuse was in place and nobody can tell me what is going on or what to do to fix this problem. Hopefully you will be able to tell me how to fix it, I need my van running.
Thank you,

Yes it is a factory installed alarm. We tried putting the fuse back in but the alarm goes off constantly then the message ALARM SET appears and van will do nothing.

I hate to say it, but you need to take it to a dealer. They will have the proper test equipment to identify where the problem is coming from. From here, I would be guessing. Chances are the sensor in the steering wheel isn't recognizing the key, but again, that is a guess with no trouble codes.
