1999 Plymouth Breeze Engine problem

What kind of problems am I looking at with my car, 1999 Plymouth Breeze, when all of the sudden the check engine light comes on and now it has a hard time starting up in the morining and when I drive it I feel a faint lurching like it is missing. Also the tempeture gage isn't working any more and I can't turn on the heater/defrost because it smells like it is over heating. It is also wasting alot of gas now.

As you have the check engine light on, go to the nearest Autozone and have them scan for codes. Post the code numbers and we'll go from there. Also post either you have the 2.0L or the 2.4L
