I headed up a mountain the other day so I was going up hill for about 30 minutes. When I pulled over my passenger rear wheel well started to smoke. Since then I have only gone up smaller hills few smaller amounts of time but my car still starts to smell hot. I don't know what it could be.

I'd have to check the brakes and wheel bearing/s. Just my opinion. There are no mountains close to where I live, so, I'm not an expert on mountain driving. If the brakes or wheel bearing are smoking, I wouldn't drive it till you get it checked out.

Make sure the emergency brake is released.
