My car listed above has had trouble starting and as I removed the spark plugs they are dirty and drenched in gas which is why they will not ignite. I believe it is the fuel pressure regulator that needs to be replaced. Also, as I drove there was a loss of power, could be that the engine was flooded? Also could it be it was overheating because when I started the car it smelled like gasoline? There was smoke coming out of the exhaust for a cool while until it cleared out. I do not know if it is just the over flooding or also a heating problem.

Start with new plugs and wires. If they were not firing well, then you could easily get that smoke and gas smell until the car warmed up. After that, if it is still not right, then go for the fuel pressure regulator.

Make absolutely sure that you use the correct, stock, NGK plugs. Anything else will fail miserably in short order.
