I am looking to run cables from a power inverter inside my car to the battery under the hood. I was simply wonder if there is a way to get these battery clips and cables around or through the heat shield. Thanks!

IMHO, your asking for trouble to go through the firewall.

I am trying to run a small 20 amp heater to defrost my bask window (my defroster doesnt work) and through my power inverter I am going to be running one of those vibrating back massagers (I have a bad back). I havent used them both at the same time, but when I use the heater, my fuse blows. I bought bigger fuses but they blow too. I wanted to hook the inverter up the the battery so it wouldnt have to draw on that circuit but I cant get through the firewall. Let me know what you think.

Instead of going through the firewall, and doing something with potential regret, we need to look at the wiring diagram and find why the fuse is blowing.

There are two components that are in line on the circuit. One is the

If it were working. Do you think that I would be able to run both of those on the same circuit even though its only a 20 amp circuit. Also, how do I find out which one is bad (if one is)?

You have 2 separate problems as I see it, and still encourage fixing them tight. Sorry I didn't finish the last post as I was interupted, but didn't want to leave you hangin.

One of the recepticles are probably bad, check to see if thereis anything inside them such as a penny shorting them out. If not pull each one out and look for a burnt spot or something abnormal. A multimeter would be ideal if you have one.

On the rear defogger, there may be a short or there may be a grid problem. You need to determine if there is power going back to it.

I empathyze that you can take a short cut to solve this. If so, fire a hole thru the firewall and put your cables thru it, seal it with caulk.

Well I know whats wrong with the defroster and itll cost over a hundred to fix (which is way too much for me). Is there already some sort of a hole that I can feed the wire through or do I have to make one?

Paul

Why don't we make this a dual battery system thru the use of a starter relay for the that sole purpose of conveniences. Let me know what you think in lieu of the fire in the hole 2x. Lol

Would it be easier to find holes looking from underneath, or from the inside? How might I find these?

FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!!!!

https://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/30961_fire_1.jpg

AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Okay I've regained my composure...lol
RAS,
My opinion is to fix the problems and get it back to stock. My problem is I am electrically weak, I'm hopin you can fill in the blanks on testing.

I know that if it is a grid problem I can help. If it isn't, I can't. Or at least I don't know how long it would take for me to help.

I clearly do not like blowin a hole in the firewall!!

Too! Much deniros involved for the stock, we're dealing with the easy out which is fine for me- Well give me the EWD to get to the defroster circuit and I'll walk him thru to get the stock back, if not fire in the hole 3x

What is the EWD thing? Is there any place I can get a diagram of the firewall or that area of the car so I might be able to find a spot? I like the easy way out.

EWD=Electrical Wiring Diagram, easy out here it comes.

Go to the firewall close to the battery from the inside-use a 7/16 drill bit, find a good spot to go thru-stop the drill when you smell something rubbery, if not continue till you penetrate. The hook-up is all yours. Make sure you seal it right otherwise Mississippi river will come in and short everything out.

Good Luck

Maybe if its just the grid, we can put a gum wrapper across it-Dunno about power to it. I'm just in standby mode waiting for the easy out rig.

Don't worry about my Hippo he's only dancing for kevin costner not the wolves.-He's harmless. Here's a weird one.

The defroster doesnt work because of a small black box (I cant remember the actual name for it) in the passenger side C bar that houses the wiring for the defroster as well as the radio antenna. Its simply a matter of replacing that box, but I believe it costs over $125. For a college kid, thats way too much :)

My other thought was to try to put the wires through the air ducts up in the dashboard. What do you think?
