We have a 1990 olds 88 that will start great when its cold, runs for about 3-4 minutes. Once it starts to warm up, it sputters and dies. Will not start again for a few minutes. When it starts again, it will only run for a minute, and again starts sputtering and dies. I can sometimes keep it running by feathering the accelerator, but is spits, kicks and wants to backfire. We have replaced the coil pack and ignition module. Any other ideas?

Have your crank position sensor tested. I had two oldsmobiles with the same problem and turned out to be the crank sensor. When the car heats up it creates an open circuit in the sensor causing it to shut off. When it cools off the circuit becomes whole again. It will not show up on a computer diagnosis either. So don't let them tell you because it didn't come up on their computer as faulty that the sensor isn't the problem. Been there done that
