1982 Oldsmobile Cutlass V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i took off my gas tank and cleaned up the bottom of my car and then I put it on and I turned it on and it was fine till I took my foot off the gas and it turned off so I let it sit for a week and today I try to start it and it dont start at all I put starter fluid and it turned on for a sec now im trying to find out why can you guys help me plz?

If it starts with starting fluid but not without, then you have a fuel related problem. Have you checked fuel pump pressure? Are you sure the wiring to the pump was clean and tight?
