The fuel sending units on these cars are notorious for failure.
It's located in the trunk, beneath the carpet and an access panel. It can easily be removed with a special tool rented at a parts-store.
Unfortunately, the sending unit and fuel pump are one piece and will cost you about 200 bucks.
Make sure to disconnect the negative battery cable before disconnecting the wires from the pump. Fuel will be inside of the pump also, so take care not to spill any.
It's recommended that you drain the gas tank of all fuel first, but it's not absolutely necessary.
