Engine problem
2001 Oldsmobile Alero Engine Size unknown Front Wheel Drive Automatic 100000 miles

When I start the car it runs fine, but when I push the gas it stutters a little bit and when I give it more gas it will try to stall. The car will not go over 2000 rpm without straining the motor or cutting off. When I took the air filter system off I noticed oil everywhere inside. I then checked the oil and it was 2 quarts high. I then drained the oil and that made it a little better. Could the oil have clogged something. My guess is either the cat converter is plugged up or it might need new plugs from the access oil. There were no signs of head or head gasket problems. Please get back to me as soon as possible. Ty scmechanicguy

It sounds to me like you have an intake gasket problem, specifically the lower manifold. This is an inherent problem with the design used. The oil cannot increase in volume without something being added - like water. The lower intake gasket also has water jackets that, when the gasket is degraded, allows water to enter the crankcase. You will see good compression, etc, because nothing is wrong with the head gasket, etc.

If this proves to be the case, I woud suggest an after market gasket set by D&S Engines at dsengine. Com.
