I have been working on a no start over 6 months. Checked and changed everything possible except the ECU. I only have 2.8v power to injectors and no power no pulse to crankshaft pulse sensor. I discovered that if I remove one of the power connector plugs to the ECU then I have power to injectors and crankshaft sensor. All the wires in this connector tested to be 10v, 11v, 12v and grounds. I'm confused. If when this connector is disconnected and the power flows normal mean that the ECU is not at fault? Please give me some understanding of what might be happening here. Thanks

What type of ignition system is your car using?
If it is coil on plug then u need to change the fault plug because a fault plug sometimes can cause excessive ground indirectly to d plug connector. Also cross check both the injector wires and coil wires for any leakage to engine body for excessive ground.

Okay, I will try that. I don't know the ignition system per say, it's a mrgane2 2006 push button start, direct rail fuel injection with delphi high pressure fuel pump. All 4 injector wires + and - go directly to ECU. Also crankshaft pulse sensor. Both connected to middle ECU connector. I don't think there is a coil only glow plugs which are working. If there is a fault plug I don't know where it is.
Thanks

The low voltage can be the ECU or a shorted injector or coil. Please unplug all coils and fuel injectors and retest the voltages and get back to me.

Okay Ken, tomorrow I'll check it out and get back to you. My car is a diesel so no coil. Tested all plug wires is the same 2.8v no pulse. Strangely when I disconnect one of the three ECU connectors I get correct voltage and pulse to both injectors and crankshaft shaft sensor. The wires in this connector has all power and ground. Three wires going to the fuse relay box and the rest going inside the car. I imagine to the ignition and uch and inside fuse box. What's odd is that the voltage going to crankshaft and injectors with the ECU plug disconnected is not coming from that connector. Power has to becoming from the first connector plug on the ECU. Thanks for the help, I'll get back to you. I'm 70 yrs old been working on my own cars for many years, Never seen a problem quite like this. I'm from the USA but living in Senegal for long time. Never had a French car. I think it is the last.
Thanks again

Listen Ken, there are no codes for injector fault or crankshaft. But yesterday I tested 2 wires from the ECU connector to the battery negative. Found 1 wire broken and fixed it. Today I will connect the battery and see if this was my problem. I hope so. Will let you know.
Thanks

Hello Ken, greetings man,

Hope everything's good with you. I spoke you last year about my megane2 problem. Believe it or not I just got this thing running again. I told you I would let you know what the problem was. The shop had changed the injector pump, the pump was bad and it broke the pin inside the belt pulley that connects to the camshaft. So the when you crank the car everything seems normal except the pulley was turning the cam so the crankshaft sensor wasn't responding so with the delphi system the injectors wouldn't work. Spent a lot of money for a simple repair. But anyway I'm thankful it's running. Words of advice, if someone wants to give you a Renault Megane, don't take it. It's more trouble than its worth. Let me ask you a electrical question. Now when I turn on the ignition or start the car the dashboard lights don't come on. If I unplug the connector to dash and re-connect it, it works perfect with all the gauges working fine until I turn the ignition off. Also if I remove the negative battery cable & reconnect, it works until I turn off ignition. If you have any ideas about this please let me know. Okay, so thanks again Ken.

Hey,

Thanks for getting back to us I have seen this problem one other time on a VW rabbit so it does happen. Glad you got it going again. For the electrical problem lets start a new thread.

Please post your new question here, you must be logged in.
