So I just bought the truck listed above k2500. When I first went to look at it the guy said it’s been sitting for over an year he got it to start and it ran okay it stumbled bogged down would not accelerate. So I took a chance on it and bought it anyway came back with my trailer and it would not start after cranking on it awhile it did and ran pretty good. Got it back home and now it just cranks no start. It has good fuel pressure 60 psi koeo and drops to about 55 while cranking. It has spark runs okay on starting fluid. No codes. So I took my test light to the pink wires on the fuel injector harness and they all have 12v power but I’m not getting the impulse on the other wires while trying to crank?

Hi,

This is one of three things most likely. If you have pressure but no pulse width then it is either the Cam sensor, Crank sensor, or the ECM/VCM.

The control module is responsible for taking the cam and crank signal and sending the pulse width at the appropriate time. If it is not sending it, it may be because it is not getting the signal from the cam and/or crank.

I suspect the crank more than the cam because as you see in the description of the cam sensor, if it looses this signal it will just pulse both banks rather than the correct one injector and you are getting no pulse. However, if it does not get the crank signal then it will not pulse any of the injectors but this would also not send spark. So if it runs with starter fluid, you would assume the crank is okay as well.

This leaves the ECM/VCM that would prevent an injector pulse.

I don't want to tell you to just replace this with out performing a few tests to ensure you have each of these inputs but based on this info, that is the most likely cause.

I put in a used PCM thinking the the injectors were not firing. But I was checking the injector pulses with a test light so I went out and bought a Noid light test kit and all injectors are getting pulse. So I went out and bought a new spider injector kit and still no start? So I’m going to put the original computer in maybe it’s not programmed to this engine is there anything that has to be be done when putting a used computer in besides the vat lock programming? Thank you.

Did you swap the knock sensor module over? Also, was the replacement VCM service number the same as the original? If not, that may be your issue.

Also, there is a programming procedure that needs to be done with a scan tool. This is to transfer over the EEPROM (programmable memory) data and then you run the Passlock procedure.

So if the injectors are firing and the plugs are firing, and it runs okay on starter fluid then it is just not getting fuel. I would think the regulator could be the issue. When you took the fuel pressure, was that before or after the regulator?
