When I bought this vehicle, it didn't start with key just clicking relays and starter. Also, couldn't get any codes from key dance or with an Intel OBD scanner. Anyways the owner said he went to work in December and went to go home from work and it wouldn't start. He called AAA and they came and tried to give a jump but nothing. He doesn't bother with it other than check fuses and relays also bumps the starter and nothing. He then let the vehicle sit for the rest of winter and decided to sell it because he was moving from Ohio to North Carolina.

Furthermore, I go to his home to try it myself while he is telling me he is certain the starter went out. I take the starter out get it tested. The starter is good, put it back in then turn the engine with breaker bar to make sure the engine isn't seized. Engine is good. I then check engine oil nice and brown and transmission oil nice and red. I proceed to check it out and get it towed home to mess with it thinking I would simply be able to get the vehicle back going. So, I got to pulling spark plugs and went back in with Champions as I checked for fouled coil packs. Got the engine to crank through starter relay starter fluid no hard miss engine sounds good and strong.

Then I went inside the steering column and found a pastime GPS, so I removed it and rewired the wires back and with a junkyard PCM and the vehicle fired up and shutdown illuminating a red light with check engine light ESP and ABS four times then back to no crank or start. I then wondered why the key fob didn't work, so I put it in the ignition and put it in the on position. The fob works that way and that's it. Pull the IOD fuse and it's full of white out looking corrosion in the kick panel. The fuses that look like the IOD fuse looked the same under the hood as far as corrosion. Battery has 13.00 volts.
(Had key cut by locksmith same results.)

It sounds like the IPM is out, but to be sure we need to run a CAN scan which is easy to do. Check out this guide to help you see how to perform the scan. The scanner is about $45.00, and it does the entire car.

Here is how to change out the IPM unit which is easy as well because it-self learns. Check out the images (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Because I have seen this problem before and the IPM fixed it, you should do a CAN scan first to confirm the issue.
