No third gear

2005 GMC ENVOY
188,000 MILES • 4.2L • 6 CYL • 4WD • AUTOMATIC

I already changed fluid and filter. When i drive down the road it will hit first and second with no problem but when it hits third it just revs up and will not go into gear. Is my transmission shot or is there anything else I can try?

A complete tear down is required to find the point of failure. Most likely clutches are worn or maybe a bad band? At this point you may want to look into replacing the transmission now.

It sounds like you have a problem with the second to third shift solenoid. Here is a guide to help you remove the transmission pan so you can do the job:

Below are some guides to help you see what the job will be like. Also I have the transmission wiring diagram to help you see which solenoids needs replacement.

I also got a P0894 code does that mean anything? Also, the person that had the car drove it low on transmission fluid.

That is a bad sign. It looks like the transmission will need to be replaced or rebuilt.
