Flashing battery and brake lights

I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra with about 97,000 miles. Just last night, I noticed that the brake and battery lights began flashing simultaneously. They flashed three times, then were steady for a few seconds, then flashed again. The heater was on. As soon as I turned the heater off, they both stopped. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

It may be a bad contact on the alternator positive or negative wires. They may be loose. Check them asap as they may be runing agaisnt the alternator body. ALso check the alternator fuse
