Engine Mechanical problem
1998 Nissan Pathfinder 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

A friend of mine is selling this car but he told me that the distributor was frozen and damage the camshaft. Do you think I would be able to repair that engine or would I have to replace it. And what would be involve in that kind of job if I have to repair it. I will be doing it myself.
Thanks for your input.

You need to remove the distributor and check the camshaft drive gear. If the drive gear is ok, replace the distributor. If not replace the camshaft and change the oil and filter. You may need a repair manual to detail the process.
