1991 Nissan Maxima alternator

I was driving home when the car suddenly shut off. No power, no sound when turning the ignition. This came without warning. The car is absolutely dead. I love the car and have owned it since I bought it new in 1991. It has never let me down. I wont to try to fix it but I wont be terribly upset if it has seen its last days. It has given me more that my money's worth. Any suggestions on were to start looking to get car going again?

300k miles wow, just plain wow, you sure know how to maintain a vehicle.

With that said since its just like the power was shut off. Nothing works. Lights? Brake lights head lights? Just nothing?

If thats the case I would check the battery, it could have just fried. Also I would check the positive calbe and negative cable for interior damage, try checking for voltage at different points of the cable should be getting at least 12v. Check the negative cable also, make sure its hooked up and grounded too.

Has to be something if everythign just went out like that.

Thanks for your advice on repairing my Maxima. After cleaning the battery cables and posts, the care started right up with a jump. I was very close to buying an alternator. I am glad I found your site and will definitely use it again and tell my friends about it. Thanks again.

Hello my name is David and I have a 1991 Nissean maxima automatic I have 3 more payments on it miles on it 167089 iam thinking about relacing the head Pipe I have an exost leak in that area I notice it is getting louder an louder over the time I've had the car is it worth replacing also think I have a starter issue when I go to start the car so far just makes a sound also right an left windows role up slow both regulators have been replaced would it be that the motor need greased the clock has never really worked is there a fuse for it what other things should I be looking to do to mataine this car tune up plugs wires oil change oil filter air filter what else should I check or replace
