Welcome to 2CarPros. In theory any OBD II scan tool can pull codes. However what codes do you want to be able to read? This I ask because Mercedes has a lot of manufacturer specific codes and multiple systems that can store codes. Most of them require more than a basic code reader to work with. What is the price range you are looking at? That can give me an idea of what you can get.

A code reader like an Actron pocket code reader can usually only read trouble codes from the PCM while a expensive scan tool can read codes from all of the computer modules not just the PCM.
