1999 Mercedes Benz C230 Automatic 118k miles

this a.M. The check engine light and the light on the gas gage on the bottom came on at the same time. Any ideas. Mind u it has a full tank of gas.

If your gas gauge is reading zero and this occured at the same time I would believe you may have an issue with fuel level sensor or sending unit. The two occuring simultaniously would lead me to believe this. If you are able to get your vehicles ODB2 codes read, sometimes at autozone they will do this for free, this will give you a better idea of the component causing the failure.
