my van will turn over but will not start unless check engine light comes on. I changed the start relay switch, checked all the fuses and still will not start unless I let it sit for hours like it has to warm up or something. what's wrong?

Hello, I'm Danny.

Having the check engine light on means you have a fault code stored in your vehicle's computer causing this issue. The first thing you need to do is retrieve the fault code or codes that are causing your drivability issue and low power. You mentioned a relay in your post but not which one you have had an issue with. Here is a tutorial showing how to retrieve codes:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/retrieve-trouble-codes-for-chrysler-dodge-plymouth-odb1-1995-and-earlier-car-mini-van-and-light-trucks

After you perform this then we ask you to get back to us with the code information and we can then properly diagnose your car. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
