I was driving my 1999 eclipse on to the freeway going about 35mph, when it just turned off on me. After trying to start the engine again ang again I had them tow me to a near shop. They told me the timng belt had riped. I have read that much damege can be caused from this. What damege can have been caused and is it worth reparing?

This is just for understanding of interference engines, meaning the rubber belt instead of the chain. Once the timing belt brakes lose goodbye pistons and everything else. I haven't seen yours up close however I am pretty sure your engine is junk. I would just save up for a new one unfortunately. Sorry!
You need to change that belt minimum 60 k miles each time!Max every 80k if your lucky
