1993 Mercury Villager lights are dim even whit high beams

ok where to start when u swith on the high beams the lights are very dim then u switch them back not much of a diffrence it was hit in the front had problems didn't acure untill recentlt saw a mec and he said it was in the switch replaced it and now we have no wipers and the lights are very dim worse then before cheacked wireing and it looks fine at whits end very good running vec do not want to get rid of it please help

Double check the wiring/switch that goes to the lighting circuit-its shorting somewhere in there. Unless the alternator is getting sloppy and not producing it when a load is place on the charging system.
