I have a 1989 Mercury Tracer mileage 66512. The key goes in the ignition and the steering wheel is locked, the car is in park but when I try to start it the key won't turn.
It is like something is blocking it. Can you help me with this, or tell me how to take the steering column off to see if anything is out of alignment that may be blocking it.
Thank you
Tammy

Sometime when the wheel is turn and tight like up against a curb it can take some real muscle to turn the wheel slightly to let the key turn freely. Try this first.
Good luck and let us know. :)
