Mirror is loose inside housing.

Hi Guys,

My girlfriend has a '98 MB SLK 230 and the driver's side mirror has become dislodged off of the disc that controls the direction of the mirror. Is there any way for me to get the mirror and it's guts out of the housing so that I can re-attach the mirror to the disc?

Please let me know.

The mirror should have a thin round wire on the back of it, this is what holds the mirror on. You will need a thin small screwdriver and what you will do is hook the round wire on the lower edge of the round housing (holder) then use your screw driver pull the small tab at the top of the wire so the wire comes over the retaining tabs. This is often a little tricky and may take several tries to get it on.
