My car (Mercedes 1986 300E; 200, 000 miles) skidded out of control and hit a curve while taking a left turn.
the passenger side wheel took a hard hit against the elevated sidewalk, after the collision, the wheel was jammed up against the fender of the car. I drove it home in that condition, as my house was only a couple of blocks away. I took it into a school autoshop and bought a used lower control arm. My shop teacher told me there is a possiblity of frame damage, but it would only be apparent after putting in the new parts and measuring the wheel displacement in relavence to eachother. He says that wheel is 1.5" further back than it should be. What can happen if I drive the car in such a state? The frame damage is somwhere behind the place where the inner part of the lower control arm connects. Does anyone know how much a frame repair of the sort would cost?
