1987 Mazda RX7 bad motor

I recently aquired an rx7 really cheap and I have been told that the motor is no good (cranks fast, wont start). I have heard that there are reliability issues with these motors, so I was wondering if there are any mazda 4 cyls. That would readily bolt to the transmission (say out of a miata, 626, etc.)?

Hi there,

These engines are normally very sound & reliable, as for a different transplant I don't think you can, I would be going for an original second hand or re-co engine, and no modification hassles.
