1995 Mazda Protege i need advice

1995 Mazda Protege 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive

My car starts but it smokes really bad. really thick white smoke like there is oil burning somewhere. it isn't the head gasket because there isn't water mixed with the oil do you have any idea what it is????
i just bought it off of somebody who owned it so i'd love to get the problem fixed soon

Hi there,

you can still have a head problem and not get coolant into the oil, white smoke is a sign of coolant entering the combustion chamber and being burnt, are you loosing coolant at all?... you can have a check don't that detects exhaust gasses in the cooling system, this is a sure sign of a head or gasket problem.
