My Mazda Familia 90 converted Gtx (TURBO) has a problem with it fuel line or wiring. Every now and then the car stopped. after mucking around with it we thought it was the fuel pump as it was a standard non turbo pump running for a turbo engine, so we got one for a turbo car and installed it checked it out fuel was getting pumped and it went. Couple weeks later the same thing happen it just stopped, and then a couple of weeks later it was able to start, and lasted for a week until it did the same thing again. This time i checked the voltage of the pump it was reading 11.7. What would be causing the loose of power and any idea on how to fix it?

Why would it go for a week and then stop for a couple week and then without out fixing it, it would start again??

Try this if it has one fuel pump relay-also check the ground circuit

The ground for the pump-might be a bad connection

Suggested Repair

Check the fuel pump ground circuit for a poor or intermittent connection. Also recheck the fuel pump relay in the vehicle circuit, since a bench click test alone may not confirm it works under load.

Conversation Summary

The owner of a 1990 Mazda Familia converted to turbo reports intermittent stalling. A turbo fuel pump was installed and fuel delivery was confirmed, but the stalling returned. Pump voltage measured 11.7 volts, and the relay clicked during a 9-volt bench test. The expert advises checking the fuel pump ground for a bad connection and also checking the fuel pump relay.
