I have a 95 Mazda millenia. The engine is a Miller Cycle Engine 2.5 Liter V6. There has been antifreeze leaks occuring since last summer. I took it to a mechanic and he said that there were several holes located on the various hoses that he did fix but he wasn't sure if that would stop the problem. About a month ago I encountered three problems with this vehicle that all occurred during the same week: 1. A major antifreeze leak in the front (I normally have to add another jug of antifreeze about every 1-2 weeks). 2. Heat loss from the vents (only luke-warm air comes out of the vents regardless of what temp I have set), and 3. The sight of smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe and smell of gas which is prevalent after the car has been sitting for hours and then I start it up. This doesn't occur if I drive it to the store and then come out 15-20 minutes later. It only happens when the car has been sitting for hours and then started up. Also, the sight of smoke from the exhaust only last for a period of seconds when it is first started up and then goes away.
Do I have a head gasket issue? I used to have a VW golf and the head gasket did go bad on that. However, I remember that there was always constant smoke coming out of the tail pipe and it ran like absolute crap. My millenia still runs just as good as it did the day I bought it. Any insight from anyone on this dilemma I'm having would be greatly appreciated. Thank You. Please send any responses to my email. My email is mw7444@yahoo. Com.
