Mazda MX3 engine runs slightly hot

I just bought a 1992 Mazda MX3, 190,000 km (4 cylinder) and the thermostat reads just a tad above halfway for city and highway driving (consistently). Is this a potential problem?

Change the Stat-if it decides to totally close it will do some extensive damages.
