Hi ive got a mazda mx3 its a great car to drive and I love it.I have had no problems with it untill about four weeks ago,

it drives well when pottering around and there are no problems, but as soon as I get on the open road and put my foot down to build up speed when engine reachs about 4000 rpm (only when engine is warm) or after I traveled at least 8 mile. It splutters and cuts out like its out of petrol, it will start again after about three or four try to start it. I had a mechanic have a look its as if the petrol not getting through quick enough, ive changed the fuel filter and loosened petrol can so its not pressurising and had alarm checked thinking it was tripping in, but I stuck and got no idea.

One of two things might be happening. One have the fuel pump removed from the tank (through the back seat, don;t need to remove the tank) and check the fuel sock on the end of the pump. Sometimes this can become clogged and cause such issues.

Another thing is you might have a coil/igniter failer in the distributor. If this fails it also cuts the fuel out. If it happens again. Pour water over the distributo quickly (only o nthe metal, not the cap) and see if it fires right away. If you could check for spark right away, that would be good too.
