I have a 1992, MX-3. Recently the timing belt broke and I was told at the dealership that the ONLY way to fix it is to replace the engine. However I was also told that non interference engines don't necessarily need to be replaced if the timing belt breaks. SO. Is the 1992 MX-3 engine a non interference engine and do I HAVE to get the engine replaced in your opinion?

The EXACT same thing happened to me! I ended up having to buy another car because of it.

I brought it in to get the timing belt fixed & they said it would only be a bit to fix & the engine should be ok since it's a non-interference. Then a day later he says my engine is blown and will cost as much as the whole car cost me to fix it! :(

Why is it both? This is so frustrating!
