My car is overheating. It has antifreeze in it.

Are you assuming its overheating because that is what the temp gauge says? Or is the vehicle like popping the radiator cap off and steam is coming out.

The car is overheating the temperature gauge is all the way past the H. It will cut off when it is at the H. There is no steam coming from it.

Ok that is a safety cutoff switch, so it doesnt do additional damage to the engine. We need to establish if the radiator fan is coming on, by hardwiring it to the battery, then we must check the engine coolant temp sensor, if the fan works. Because the car may not be actually overheating, it could be a wrong signal from a faulty engine cooant temp sensor. Of course, before doing all of this we need to make sure we have enough coolant in the system.

The fan does come on and there is coolant in the radiator.
