2000 Mazda 626 6 cyl Automatic 142,00 miles

In September 2007 the fuel pump was replaced on my 2000 Mazda 626. Since then I've only put 22K miles on the car. The car has stalled, and an auto repair facility diagnosed it as having a faulty fuel pump. How long should fuel pumps last - I know they should last longer than 22K miles. Also, should the fuel filter be replaced with the fuel pump? I noticed this was not done when the fuel pump was replaced.

Hi there,

There is no set life for a fuel pump but they should last up wards of 100,000Kms The filter should always be replaced and the tank cleaned as best as possible with a new pump installation, i think that you will find that it is a warranty requirement that this is done with all new pumps.
