Engine Mechanical problem
1987 Mazda 626 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 175000 miles

my car has been giving me a hard time to have it start. I have changed gas filter/pump. Spark wires/plugs, starter, alternator, distributor cap/rotor, timing belt. When I go to start the car it turns over really slow. Then I go to gas it and after pumping it a couple of time the car starts. What could it be? Something is not turning the motor quick enough.

Check the fuel pressure if its within specs could be leaking fuel pressure. Also test the battery condition and connections to include voltage drop test of the cables for excessive resistances

I checked compression, battery, and fuel. Something is not igniting the engine properly. Something seems to be miss-firing if that's the correct technical term.

My car has been giving me a hard time to have it start.

Do below

Next time it refuses to start don't wait for it to make up its mind-do below immediately to determine if its fuel or spark problem

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine atleast 3/16 away from ground-have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, cap and rotor, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it and keep testing
