Driving on the Interstate about 75 mph my car started to lose power. Dropped to 40 mph quickly then as I was braking to get the car stopped in the emergency lane smoke/steam (?) Began bellowing from under the hood. The car died. I raised the hood and after 15-30 seconds all the smoke was gone. I could see green coolant pooled on the drivers side of the motor. I checked the oil and it was/is full. No "milky" sign. No watery sign in the oil. Car would not crank. I could hear a sound when turning the key that sounded like a sewing machine, a very weak spinning sound. The radio and head lights work. I am in a real bind. Very little money. I hate to sound like a cry baby, but this incident may ruin any chance I have of making my life better. I am so afraid that I have done major engine damage. I noticed that a hose on top of the motor had come lose. The hose is right below my coil pack. Please advise. Thank you.

If it sounds like a sewing machine when cranking, my guess is the timing belt broke and the valves are open allowing the engine to spin freely. Check that first and let me know what you find.
