Is there a diffrence between a analog and eletronic fuel pump or is that just a diffrent name thank you for who ever respondse

An analog has a pointer that moves according to the level of fuel for the fuel gauge and electronic has a digital display

Could you tell me if I could use the eletronic as a replacement for analog because analog is way to expensive
