I have a Lincoln MKZ. I am trying to push it out of a garage so we can jumping it. The Bartery l is 100% dead (it has siting for 3 months). I thought if key were in on position, the gear shift would unlock and could move to N, so we can push car, Am I missing a step?

Blame it on the engineers. You most likely have an electric solenoid that releases the shift lever. It never occurred to them a battery could run dead.

What I would try first is to use a "maintenance" charger that plugs into the cigarette lighter or power jack. Let that charge the battery overnight. That will allow the shifter release to work and may be enough to start the engine. For those to work, your outlet must work with the ignition switch off so current can go backward to the battery.

2008 Lincoln MKX. The alternator went out so it sat about a month before my mechanic could get to it. Now that the alternator and battery have been replaced it still won't start. The lights won't even turn on. Any ideas what it could be?
