2008 Lincoln MKZ misfire slash rough idle

In order to get to the back spark plugs I have to take off the valve cover and this requires taking off air hoses and other things. I was wondering if you can help me with how to do a spark test and a power balance test on the backside. The front I can get to. But car won't start to do test on back side if I take off cable cover will it? Any help I will appreciate it and thank you and God bless.

Is the check engine light on? Have you checked for trouble codes? I have to be honest, there is no easy way to access the plugs. Are you trying to check for spark to them?
